vois lets you invite the world to join your real-time voice conversation.
Talk in private with Facebook friends and family or host a public conversation with your Twitter and Instagram followers. It’s ephemeral, unless you want to record it to include in your podcast, blog or website.
Shakespeare said, “all the world’s a stage.” That’s the basis of our simple, yet powerful vois app. There’s a stage, an audience and a way to talk (actually talk) with people – using your voice. It’s a podcast, with a live studio audience.
A voispot is a virtual auditorium, with unlimited seating (using Amazon Cloud Services). Host controls, let you decide who and how many (if any) join the stage and talk. Social controls give everyone a say.
It’s a forum for a live town hall and Q&A discussion. It’s the most powerful talk platform, in the palm of your hand. And it’s free.
The option to charge admission to join your voispot is available.
So, years ago our founder and inventor of vois, was in India (his birthplace) talking with his grandfather. The conversation centered around technology and the accessibility of the Internet. The iPad had yet to be invented and mobile was not what it has since become.
“We have all this technology and the Internet, yet we talk less”, he said. He missed the days when before there was telephone and the Internet, he could walk to the village after dinner and join or start a conversation about whatever interested him. “People would gather and conversations would start up. One might be about politics, another about sports, and others about current events or news. We don’t seem to do this anymore”, he went on to say.
And that’s when the idea hit him. “I can write a program that mimics having a group conversation among people with like interests, people from around the world who you would otherwise never talk to", Kishore thought. “It would need to be dead simple to use and have social controls.”
Unfortunately, the idea was way ahead of its time. It needed to work on a desktop or laptop computer (legacy systems of today). There were no apps back then and mobile devices didn't include the technology needed to manage and host a large group conversation.
Fortunately, mobile technology has evolved to make vois possible. It’s built for mobile and today’s technology, and it’s patented.
Kishore turned to his friend Dan, with whom he co-founded eTrauma, a medical imaging startup they sold to Stryker (NYSE: SYK) in 2005. Shortly thereafter, the two set out to give the world a voice.
On behalf of the entire team, we hope you enjoy using vois as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
Best,
Kishore and Dan
